Pearl Home Care – North Coast NSW is a family company, owned and operated by Peter and Jennifer Frendin who live and work in Ballina NSW. As Registered Nurses, both Peter & Jenn have been nursing for over 40 years, and in that time have provided health care and support to metropolitan, rural and remote communities across Australia and overseas.
Having both worked as clinicians in the community setting and managed both large and small health and human services in Australia and overseas, they know what makes a service great.
Their extensive experience ensures a deep understanding of the essentials of good client care and it was their shared passion for working with clients in their own home, that led them to establish Pearl Home Care – North Coast NSW in August 2021, a franchised geographical area under the Pearl Home Care group.
Although our patch extends all the way from the QLD boarder to just north of Forster NSW, we are currently only operating in the following regions; Tweed, Ballina, Lismore and Grafton. In time we will commence to operate in our other southern areas but are currently concentrating on developing the best services we can for our northern residents.

The Seven Seas (C's) of Pearl Home Care North Coast NSW
The services provided by Pearl Home Care – North Coast NSW are underpinned by the Mission, Vision and Values of the Pearl master franchise group as well as a set of unique Values that Peter and Jenn developed themselves. Given their backgrounds and experience, Peter and Jenn had identified a number of key values essential to providing high quality care that was in step with work undertaken in 2011 by England’s Chief Nursing Officer, Jane Cumming. Jane’s work reflected the values identified as essential by the NHS nurses themselves and was implemented into the UK National Health system under the term ‘The Six C’s Strategy’. These Six C’s have been adopted and expanded upon to reflect the importance of the community here in the North Coast, as well as the stunning environment. With that, the ‘Seven Seas (C’s) of North Coast NSW’ were born.
These Seven Seas (C’s) encompass the values and strategies of Pearl Home Care – North Coast NSW and set out a shared purpose of delivering high quality compassionate care that leads to better client experiences and outcomes.
This philosophy is central to how Pearl Home Care – North Coast NSW operates on a daily basis, and it allows us to work collaboratively with our clients and stakeholders to use their experiences to shape our services as we develop.
Pearl Home Care – North Coast NSW staff are committed to our Seven C’s and are specifically chosen for their passion and commitment to making a real difference and improving the lives of the clients they serve. In return, Pearl Home Care – North Coast NSW prides itself on looking after their staff and making their time at work as enjoyable and rewarding as possible.

Innovation
Pearl Home Care – North Coast NSW prides itself on the innovative programs it has developed and continues to deliver to the clients and communities it serves. An example of these innovative services includes:
Client Advisory & Support Committee – Ballina
This committee commenced in August 2023 and is made up of clients meet every quarter to provide advice and recommendations to Pearl Home Care – North Coast NSW on matters related to its service delivery, which may include:
- Service design and delivery,
- Quality and safety, Consumer engagement,
- Workforce development,
- Access and equity,
- Innovation and research.
The Up & at ‘em / Tuck in service
North Coast NSW has a high number of both retirees and aged care recipients who live alone and have no family members close by. Pearl Home Care – North Coast NSW is often asked to call in and check on clients by concerned relatives who live away. This service is predicated on staff ensuring the client is generally OK, comfortable, ready for the day or bed and as safe as possible for them to have a good day or good night’s sleep. An important aspect of this service is a follow up telephone call to the clients nominated family member/representative to provide a quick status report on the client following the visit.
Home Safety and Maintenance service
Clients and family members have regularly asked for a more caring and appropriate approach to home maintenance and gardening under the Commonwealth’s Home Care Program. In light of this, Pearl Home Care – North Coast NSW developed and introduced the Home Safety and Maintenance service to help ensure the clients home environment remains as safe as possible for the client. From a thorough on-site home Safety assessment (with resulting action plan) to routine home maintenance and garden upkeep, this program has been very successful with clients very appreciative of the personalised help and support they receive.
